Why come for a session?
You'll benefit most from these sessions if you are
  • eager to release stress
  • wanting to experience more ease and well-being
  • keen to restore the natural ability of your body to relax and self-heal
  • looking for better sleep; pain-relief; improved posture and joint flexibility; easing of migraines and anxiety; release of muscular tensions; enhanced skin health and blood circulation; increased peace of mind
  • nourished by safe and caring touch
  • committed to on-going preventative health care
"That sense of care from you made me realise I needed to do the same for myself - instead of imagining that I can treat my body any old way and that it'll keep chugging along!" ~ G.D.
What makes Esalen Massage
unique?

Unique to this whole body technique is its focus on the entire surface of the skin. Through caring contact from head to toe, you are reminded of the interconnected wholeness of your body.

As such, Esalen massage is an awareness practice. It focuses your attention on your body. It heightens your perceptiveness to information mediated by your body and opens you to deeper-lying levels of existence.

It is one powerful technique to help restore the innate capacity of your body and nervous system to relax and self-heal.

Autonomic flexibility is vital to our good health. This is the capacity of our central nervous system to switch between activating (sympathetic) processes and calming (parasympathetic) processes, depending on what is needed in any given moment. In our world today, this regulative capacity is often lost or dimmed through stress and trauma.

In response, Esalen massage allows you to access the healing power of parasympathetic mobilization. As you relax, your internal functioning naturally switches to support rest, repair and restoration.

In essence, as Deane Juhan so aptly says:
"Touch is food. Vital food!"

"After our massage I slept really well - much longer and deeper than usual. Today my knee feels much freer in movement and my feet feel as new. So much tension was held in them!" ~ K.W.
What is
a session like?

I offer Esalen massage in my beautiful treatment space in Forres / Moray.

Pre-treatment consultations - aimed at tailoring each massage to your needs - happen online, via email or over the phone.

During your session you will be carefully draped at all times, lying first on your stomach and then on your back, to allow for a whole-body treatment. The work is hands on alternating different strokes and stretches with moments of stillness.

I only use high quality organic massage oil.

It is valuable to allow for unstructured integration time after your session to make the most of your treatment.

Practice times are generally Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons, though I have some flexibility for other times.
